The purpose of this course is to provide direction, information, and education for RNs and LVN's to provide them with the skills to make safe, effective, and legal choices in nursing documentation in nursing practice settings. Settings include: client's home, group home, foster home, assisted living facility, schools, hospitals, or where the nurse works or engages in other community services, while adhering to regulatory guidelines and best practices in documentation of nursing care as established by the BNE and /or BON. The course will include nursing standards related to accurate and complete documentation, legal guidelines for recording, methods and processes of recording, methods of alternative record keeping, and computerized documentation. This class has been approved by the Texas Board of Nursing to meet board ordered remedial education requirements. This course is held Virtually on Zoom.
Participants will learn the national and state standards of nursing practice of the Professional Nurse related to the responsibilities associated with medication administration as designated by the Texas State Board of Nursing. Participants acquire the concepts and skills of basic medication therapy, drug dosage calculations and drug administration in order to safely, effectively, and competently care for clients across the lifespan in a variety of healthcare settings. Participants will also complete a review of proper administration procedures for all standard routes; computation of drug dosages; the eight (8) rights of medication administration; factors influencing the choice of route; and possible adverse effects resulting from improper administration. 6 hours Virtual classroom/the equivalant of 24 hours Virtual Clinical. This course is designed to broaden the RN 's or LVN's knowledge and skills in health assessment by provided a 6 hour didactic course and the equivalant of 24 hours virtual clinical component. The course will allow participants to increase their assessment skills and their ability to recognize the wide range of "normal" health status in a clinical setting. The knowledge from this course is immediately applicable to everyday patient care in a wide variety of settings. Participants will also be able to differentiate components of a head to toe assessment and focus assessment. This class has been approved by the Texas Board of Nursing to meet board ordered remedial education requirements.

No. Wait for your board order. You may not be given credit for courses that you took prior to the date of your board order.
3. How will the board get my Verification of Completion?
We will email a copy of your Verification of Completion to the Board with a copy sent to you. Please keep your copy in a safe place. If you call the Board and they say they haven't gotten your Verification just let us know and we will send it again.
